L’une des choses les plus importantes à faire en photographie est de sortir avec son appareil et de prendre des photos, pour moi la prochaine chose importante est de trouver de l’inspiration et de nouvelles idées, il n’y a rien de tel que d’étudier des images de haute qualité, étudier est peut-être trop proche de quelque chose comme l’école, mais pour moi c’est un plaisir absolu de me plonger dans l’examen d’images de haute qualité qui ont réussi à être les premiers de leur classe dans la compétition du Travel Photographer of the Year.
World Photo Adventure a le privilège de présenter une sélection d’images du photographe de voyage de l’année de cette année qui ne peuvent qu’inspirer. Le singe doré à nez retroussé de Qinling est classé parmi les espèces menacées par l’UICN, car il ne reste que 3 800 individus. La plupart des gens n’ont jamais vu ces créatures. La jeune photographe de voyage de l’année 2018 est Isabella Smith, âgée de 14 ans. La jeune Américaine a séduit le jury international avec son portfolio coloré de photographies prises à Chefchaouen, au Maroc. Daniel Kurian (Australie/Inde), 12 ans, a remporté le prix Young TPOTY 14 and Under avec un portfolio intelligent représentant un arbre en train d’être abattu, tandis que Fardin Oyan, 16 ans, du Bangladesh, a remporté les premiers honneurs dans la catégorie Young TPOTY 15-18 ans avec une magnifique collection d’images capturant de jeunes enfants en train de jouer. En regardant ces enfants jouer sous la pluie, j’ai couvert mon appareil photo d’un sac en polyéthylène et je me suis précipité sous la pluie. Dans les catégories de portfolios, le portfolio « Under the Same Sun » de la photographe néerlandaise Marinka Masséus, qui sensibilise aux conditions de vie des personnes atteintes d’albinisme en Tanzanie, a été le digne vainqueur de la catégorie « Faces, People, Cultures », tandis que la meilleure image de cette catégorie a été attribuée à Danny Yen Sin Wong (Malaisie) pour son image d’un jeune Suri à Kibish, en Éthiopie. En Tanzanie, quand on est atteint d’albinisme, on est considéré comme mauvais. Young Travel Photographer of the Year 2018 is 14-year-old Isabella Smith. The young American won over the international panel of judges with her colourful portfolio of photographs taken in Chefchaouen, Morocco. 12-year-old Daniel Kurian (Australia/India) won Young TPOTY 14 and Under with a clever portfolio depicting a tree being felled, while 16 year old Fardin Oyan from Bangladesh took top honours in the Young TPOTY 15-18 age group with a beautiful collection of images capturing young children playing. Watching these kids playing in the rain, I covered my camera with a polythene bag and rushed out into the rain. We danced, laughed and played in the rain.Akua, Sadar, Bangladesh

In the portfolio categories, Dutch photographer Marinka Masséus’s portfolio ‘Under the Same Sun’, raising awareness of the circumstances of people with albinism in Tanzania was a very worthy winner of the Faces, People, Cultures category, while Best Single Image in this category went to Danny Yen Sin Wong (Malaysia) for his image of a young Suri boy in Kibish, Ethiopia. In Tanzania, when you have albinism, you are thought to be evil. Hi Jian (China) came first in the Hot/Cold single-image category with a beautiful image of Tibetan pilgrims in the snow in Gannan, China, while British photographer Simon Morris’ atmospheric picture of a faded, once-grand bedroom in Havana, Cuba won the Tranquillity single-image category. No overall winner was awarded in Beauty of Light, but photographers from China, the UK and USA were Commended.
